Baker Mayfield throws shade at Eagles ahead of Tampa showdown
The stage is set for a clash of the unbeatens, and of course Baker Mayfield couldn’t resist tossing a little gasoline on the fire before the Eagles even get off the plane.
The Bucs’ quarterback went on Mark Sanchez’s Rearview podcast and basically laughed off Philly’s plan to arrive in Tampa a day early to “adjust” to the Florida humidity. Classic Baker, always talking, always trying to get a mental edge.
Baker Mayfield Doubts Philly’s Plan
Baker said Tampa Bay has a “good game plan” to wear the Eagles down and hammered home the idea that the heat gives the Bucs a built-in advantage. In his words, “One day doesn’t get you acclimated to this humidity” and might even make the Birds think about it more. Translation: Baker Mayfield thinks the Eagles are already rattled before kickoff.
Let’s be real. The Eagles have been through cold-weather wars, snow games, and Super Bowls. A little sweat in Tampa isn’t going to make this team fold, no matter how many “mental edges” Baker Mayfield wants to claim. If anything, this early travel move shows the Birds are thinking ahead, which is exactly why they’ve been dominating the NFC to begin with.
This is vintage Baker Mayfield: throw some shade, question the opponent’s toughness, and try to grab headlines. It’s also exactly the kind of bulletin-board material the Eagles thrive on.
If Baker Mayfield wants to frame this as a mental battle, the Birds will be more than happy to answer on the scoreboard.
