Eagles bring in new long snapper after losing Charlie Hughlett to Injured Reserve
The Eagles will be breaking in a new long snapper this Sunday against the Broncos.
Veteran Charlie Hughlett, who the Birds brought in this offseason after a decade with the Browns, hit Injured Reserve on Tuesday with what the team is calling an “undisclosed injury.”
Eagles sign Cal Adomitis, Bengals’ long snapper the past 3 seasons.
Cal Adomitis is a Pittsburgh guy, Central Catholic alum, same school that cranked out Dan Marino, Marc Bulger, Damar Hamlin, and former Eagle Stefen Wisniewski.
He stayed local for college too, snapping for Pitt before getting a shot in Cincinnati.
This is Hughlett’s first year in Philly, stepping in for Rick Lovato, who handled snapping duties from 2016 through last season before heading to the Chargers. Hughlett was one of the NFL’s iron men for nearly a decade, never missing a game in his first nine years, but injuries caught up with him last season in Cleveland and now again in Philly.
On IR, Hughlett has to sit out a minimum of four games, which lines him up to return after the bye against the Packers on November 10. Until then, it’s Adomitis’ job to make sure Jake Elliott and Braden Mann can actually do theirs.
