Quentin Grimes is back with the Sixers on a $8.7 million qualifying offer
The Sixers finally have Quentin Grimes locked in on an $8.7 million qualifying offer for the 2025-26 NBA season.
Quentin Grimes back on the Sixers with a QO
Quentin Grimes and the Sixers are miles apart on a long-term extension.
His agent, David Bauman, came into the summer aiming for something close to $25 million a year after Grimes’ late-season hot streak. Philly floated something closer to 4 years, $39 million.
The two sides were no where close on any type of contract agreement.
Quentin Grimes will now roll with the qualifying offer, prove himself on a one-year deal, and re-enter free agency next summer.
For a guy who looked like a breakout piece in March, it’s a tough market reality check. Flashes of production don’t always equal nine-figure deals when front offices aren’t convinced.
The Sixers open preseason against the Knicks on Thursday, no word on if Grimes will make the flight out to Abu Dhabi but at the very least, he’s back, betting on himself in a prove-it year.
If he delivers, he will probably get his bag, whether from Philly or someone else. If he doesn’t, the qualifying offer might be the best deal he ever sees.
