Vic Fangio might be the only man in Philadelphia who still believes in the Phillies
I’ve got nothing but love for Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio. The guy’s a gamer — a true foxhole guy. And honestly, he might be the last man standing in the entire city of Philadelphia who still has an ounce of hope left for the Phillies.
Like he does every week, Fangio kicked off his press conference with a few thoughts on the Phils. This time, his message was simple.
Vic Fangio: “It’s a best of 5, (the Dodgers) haven’t won three yet.”

As someone who actually works in professional sports, this is exactly the kind of attitude you’d expect. It’s a completely different perspective than someone like me — just a dumb fan who yells at the TV when his team’s falling apart.
Of course Fangio wasn’t going to get up there and declare the season over. That’s just not who he is.
Over the years, I’ve gotten pretty good at laughing off the chaos that comes with Philly sports. It’s a rollercoaster, and I’m just along for the ride. When the team’s up, I’m up. When they crash and burn, I’m right there behind them — waiting for the sweet, sweet release that only sports-induced misery can bring. It’s healthier to poke fun than to actually get mad.
Still, I can’t help but smile seeing Vic Fangio hanging onto hope. Bless his soul.
