Jalen Hurts posts a perfect 158.3 passer rating and a deep ball masterclass vs. Vikings
The national media was talking reckless about Jalen Hurts again and the Eagles’ franchise quarterback responded with a perfect 158.3 passer rating against the Minnesota Vikings, the first of his career, while dropping dimes all over the field.
I don’t think it’s crazy to say that Hurts delivered what might have been the most complete and explosive passing performance of his career on Sunday in Minnesota.
His downfield accuracy was surgical. He went 5-for-5 on passes of 20+ yards, good for 215 yards and three touchdowns.
To put that into perspective: the Vikings defense had only allowed three deep completions all season before this game. Hurts doubled that before halftime.
Jalen Hurts dominates, Eagles escape Minnesota with 28–22 victory over the Vikings
On throws of 10+ yards, Hurts went 9-for-12, totaling 284 yards, three touchdowns, and five “Big Time Throws”, according to Pro Football Focus, an elite grade reserved for the best of the best.
Every throw had purpose. Every read was sharp and every deep shot looked effortless.
Jalen Hurts was ridiculous against the Vikings
Jalen Hurts vs Minnesota Vikings
- 5/5 deep (20+ yards): 215 yards, 3 TDs
- 9/12 on 10+ yard passes: 284 yards, 3 TDs, 5 BTTs
- 326 total passing yards, 3 TDs, 0 turnovers
- Perfect 158.3 passer rating (first of career)
This was dominance, not just efficiency and maybe the cleanest game Jalen Hurts has ever played. For comparison, his previous career-high passer rating was 140.6 in 2022 vs. the Steelers, when he threw for 285 yards and four touchdowns.
A Passing Chart You Frame
If you looked at Hurts’ passing chart, you’d swear it was abstract art. There was basically nothing underneath. Instead, they were all explosions downfield. Every completion that mattered was a backbreaker.
He was decisive, calm, and fearless. His chemistry with A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith looked like 2022 again, and for the first time this season, the Eagles’ offense looked alive.
For a quarterback who spent the first six weeks under a microscope, Sunday was a the perfect reminder that Jalen Hurts is still him and when the deep ball’s working like that, the Eagles can beat anybody.
