Saquon runs wild, Eagles destroy Giants 38-20

The Philadelphia Eagles dismantled the New York Giants as Saquon Barkley ran wild at Lincoln Financial Field, cruising to a 38-20 win that felt over long before the final whistle.

It was a statement game for Jalen Hurts and company heading into the bye week, and it undoubtedly, Saquon Barkley’s best performance of the season.

Saquon Barkley’s Big Day Ends Early

Saquon Barkley wasted no time reminding everyone why he was last year’s 2,000-yard man. On the first play from scrimmage, he broke loose for a 65-yard touchdown that stunned the Philly crowd. By halftime, he had crossed the 100-yard mark and looked like the most dangerous player on the field.

Barkley finished with 150 rushing yards and a touchdown, plus a nine-yard receiving score, before leaving in the third quarter with a groin injury.

After the game, Barkley insisted it wasn’t serious. “I went out swinging,” he said with a laugh. “Nothing crazy. I could’ve gone back in if we needed it.” The Giants definitely needed it, but the game was already slipping away.

Jalen Hurts and the Offense Roll

Jalen Hurts was in complete control from start to finish. He completed 15 of 20 passes for 179 yards and four touchdowns, connecting twice with Dallas Goedert, once with Barkley on a swing route, and once with Jahan Dotson for a 40-yard strike that sealed the deal.

Tank Bigsby stepped in for Barkley and kept the pressure on, racking up 104 rushing yards of his own. The Birds finished with 277 rushing yards as a team, their best performance of the season.

Head coach Nick Sirianni praised his staff and players for staying steady through a bumpy start to the year. “In football, it’s always all of us,” he said. “Kevin Patullo has stayed locked in, and the players have responded. We’re starting to find our rhythm.”

Giants Overmatched and Outmuscled

The Giants had no answers. Jaxson Dart looked overwhelmed, throwing for 193 yards and a touchdown while being sacked five times. The Eagles’ defensive front dictated everything at the line of scrimmage.

New York’s misery deepened when breakout rookie running back Cam Skattebo suffered a dislocated ankle in the third quarter. He caught an 18-yard touchdown earlier in the game but was carted off and is expected to undergo surgery.

This was a statement win for the Eagles

The Eagles evened the season series after the Giants embarrassed them earlier this month. This time, the Birds looked like the defending NFC champs again.

Dallas Goedert now has a career-high seven touchdowns, the running game looks dominant, and Hurts has fully regained his rhythm as a passer. The defense, which had struggled with consistency, was flying around again.

The Eagles will enter the bye week at 6-2, right back in the NFC’s top tier. The Giants fall to 2-6 and might be staring at another long winter.

Barkley’s performance was bittersweet. He finally looked like the player who carried New York last season, only to limp off before the game ended. “I showed people I’m still me,” he said afterward. “That’s all I wanted.”

He did exactly that. Unfortunately for the Giants, so did the Eagles.

Final Score: Eagles 38, Giants 20

Next Up: Giants host the 49ers next Sunday. Eagles get a bye before visiting Green Bay on Nov. 10, when Brandon Graham is expected to return.
