Eagles-Giants Snap Counts: Tank Bigsby shines as RB2, Jalyx Hunt was everywhere

The Eagles finally have a running game again, and Tank Bigsby made sure nobody missed it. In the 38-20 win over the Giants, Tank gave Philadelphia everything they had been missing for the first seven weeks of the season.

Bigsby carried the ball just nine times but turned that limited workload into 104 yards, running with power and confidence every time he touched the ball. His breakout performance came at the perfect time after Saquon Barkley exited with a groin injury in the third quarter. For weeks, the Eagles had been searching for a consistent second option behind Barkley, and on Sunday, they may have found their answer.

This wasn’t about fluke yardage or wide-open lanes. Bigsby created plays on his own by breaking tackles and fighting through contact. He ran like a player who knew this was his chance to prove himself, and Nick Sirianni noticed.

The head coach could be seen fired up on the sideline every time Bigsby came off the field. It felt like a throwback to the physical, punishing running style that made the Eagles so dangerous in 2022. The numbers speak for themselves. Philadelphia piled up 277 rushing yards and averaged 8.4 yards per carry, their best regular season rushing performance in franchise history.

The offensive line deserves plenty of credit too. Brett Toth filled in at center for Cam Jurgens and held his own against Dexter Lawrence, one of the toughest assignments in football. DeVonta Smith stepped up as WR1 with A.J. Brown sidelined, catching six passes for 84 yards and a touchdown.

Jahan Dotson had a quiet day until late in the fourth quarter, when he caught a 40-yard bomb from Jalen Hurts to put the game away. Dallas Goedert was a force in the red zone, hauling in three catches for 28 yards and two touchdowns. Everything seemed to click again for Kevin Patullo’s offense, and it all started with the ground game.

On defense, the Eagles’ top guys finally got a break. After averaging nearly 67 snaps a game through the first seven weeks, they only had to play 45 against New York. Jalen Carter led the defensive line once again and recorded his first sack of the season.

Jalyx Hunt was all over the field, finishing with nine pressures and a sack that ended a Giants drive in the second half. Nakobe Dean started over rookie Jihaad Campbell, while Jordan Davis continued his breakout year by adding another sack and a tackle for loss. Moro Ojomo kept his hot streak going too, picking up his fourth sack of the season.

Jake Elliott was busy on special teams, kicking seven times and connecting on all five extra points. Braden Mann punted only once as the offense controlled the ball for most of the game. Xavier Gipson took over punt and kick return duties, even getting a pop pass on offense to show his versatility.

Heading into the bye week, the timing could not be better for Philadelphia. Saquon Barkley will have a chance to rest, A.J. Brown and Cam Jurgens are close to returning, and the offense now has a legitimate one-two punch in the backfield. Tank Bigsby made his case loud and clear. He has earned the RB2 role, and if Sunday was any indication, the Eagles might have finally rediscovered the formula that makes them unstoppable.
