Nick Sirianni selected for random drug test after decision to go for it on 4th down vs. Packers

The NFL selected Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni for a random drug test after his team’s 10-7 win over the Green Bay Packers on Monday Night Football. While the league does not disclose the exact reason for the test, it’s clearly the result of Sirianni’s decision to go for it on 4th & 6 with 33 seconds left in the game instead of pinning the Packers deep with a punt.

Nick Sirianni’s absurd gamble did not pay off, giving the Packers the ball on their own 35 instead of inside their own 10:

And, in case you forgot how ridiculous that decision was, I’ve included the ensuing play below.

The playcall itself appears to have been drawn up by Jalen Hurts and AJ Brown, per DeVonta Smith, but the call isn’t the issue. Nick Sirianni should have just punted it away and let the defense close it out.

I have always had a sneaking suspicion Sirianni was smoking reefer on gamedays. I’ve been calling him Sativa Sirianni since his famous flower speech in 2021, and apparently, the NFL has seen enough to feel the same way.

Now, Sirianni’s in-game decision-making has rarely given me pause before. You don’t end up 60-25 as a head coach with two Super Bowl appearances and one championship by being a dunce on the sidelines.

I’m willing to chalk this up to Sirianni having just picked up a fresh zip from the weedman and, despite his status as a veteran stoner, being taken aback by the exceedingly high potency.

To put it in layman’s terms, Nick Sirianni’s icky was far stickier than usual.

Even still, I have full trust in my guy Sativa Sirianni. It’s basically an open secret across the league that he got hired because he’s Jeffrey Lurie’s smoking buddy. Clearly, Nick and Jeff’s plug set them up with some high test shit for this road trip. No worries, though, guys, it happens to the best of us.
