Flyers late goal wiped away, lose to Oilers in overtime
The Philadelphia Flyers nearly escaped the Edmonton Oilers last night before what would have been a game-winner from Travis Konecny was wiped away on an Owen Tippett offsides call.
TK appeared to score with 23.5 seconds left, but after a league review, officials ruled that Owen Tippett was offside.
Flyers Game-Winner Wiped Away on Owen Tippett Offsides
The goal was wiped off the board, and moments later, Jack Roslovic buried one in overtime as the Oilers escaped Philadelphia with a 2-1 win. The Flyers have now gone to overtime seven times this season and fell to 4-3-3 in one-goal games.
Point Streaks and Missed Chances
Despite the loss, the Flyers extended their point streak to four games (2-0-2).
Matvei Michkov stayed hot, scoring on the power play late in the second period to tie the game. It marked his third straight game with a goal, and he now has nine points on the season. The 20-year-old looks like he’s finding his rhythm again, flashing the dynamic scoring touch that made him a star as a rookie.

Overtime Gut Punch
Less than two minutes into overtime, Cam York lost the puck, leading to a 2-on-0 for Edmonton. Roslovic and Matt Savoie made the most of it, ending the night in deflating fashion for Philadelphia.
Goaltending
Dan Vladar was stellar once again, stopping 30 of 32 shots. He’s given up two or fewer goals in eight of his ten starts. He even got into it with Mattias Janmark after getting run over late in the third, a moment that briefly ignited the Flyers’ bench.
Up Next
The Flyers dropped to 8-5-3 but continue to earn points against top-tier opponents.
The Oilers improved to 8-6-4 and will host the Flyers in Edmonton on January 3 for the rematch. Matvei Michkov’s rise remains the bright spot. Tocchet’s squad still can’t seem to shake their third-period slumps or their overtime demons, but they’re playing tough, organized hockey.
A few inches here or there, and the Flyers might’ve been celebrating a statement win. Instead, they skate away with just one point and another lesson learned the hard way.
