Joel Embiid upgraded from OUT to Questionable vs. Hawks
Sixers fans are absolutely losing their minds about whether or not Joel Embiid will play basketball in late November. Meanwhile, I’m sitting here hoping the man is upright, breathing normally, and ready to go in Spring 2026. That is the only thing that matters. Not a random Sunday night in November. Not a meaningless game against the Hawks. Spring. Twenty. Twenty-six.
Here we are again, trapped in the NBA’s most exhausting annual tradition: deciphering the Sixers’ injury report like it’s the Dead Sea Scrolls. The team upgraded Embiid from OUT to questionable for tonight’s game, which means we’ve officially entered “maybe he plays, maybe he doesn’t, nobody knows anything” territory.
Joel Embiid now listed as QUESTIONABLE for tonight vs Hawks
Joel Embiid hasn’t played since November 8, sitting out nine straight games thanks to a right knee issue that has been labeled “day-to-day” for 18 days.
Classic Sixers medical stuff. At this point, nobody even reacts anymore. We just nod, sigh, and pretend that “day-to-day” isn’t the most meaningless phrase in Philadelphia sports.
As annoying as the song and dance is, this is all about one thing. Staying as healthy as humanly possible for when it actually matters. Unless the NBA has dramatically changed the Finals schedule in the past week, it does not matter in late November.
So we wait. Again. Maybe Embiid plays tonight. Maybe he doesn’t. The important part is that moving from OUT to questionable is the first sign of progress we’ve seen in almost three weeks. It’s not a guarantee, but it’s something worth monitoring.
