Eagles Déjà Vu Watch: Monday night will reveal whether 2025 is collapsing like 2023
The 2025 Philadelphia Eagles are starting to feel a whole lot like the 2023 Birds, for obvious reasons.
We all remember how the ’23 team fell apart — a 10-1 start, followed by an 1-5 finish and a one-and-done playoff exit that still gives me heartburn. This year’s squad isn’t front-running quite as hard, sitting at 8-4, but that same sinking feeling is creeping back in. The vibes are off, the cracks are showing, and everyone can feel it.
Do I think it’s over? No. There’s still time to get this thing pointed in the right direction. But let’s be honest: if the Eagles roll into LA on Monday night, get Trey Lance of all people… and still manage to lose? Then yeah, we might be staring down the barrel of another full-blown collapse.

Eagles on the brink of another collapse?
All the parallels between this upcoming Chargers game and that 2023 matchup in Seattle are right there in front of us. Monday night under the lights, long trip out to the west coast, riding a two-game skid, and possibly staring down a backup quarterback. It’s the same setup all over again.
This is the game that tells us exactly where the 2025 Eagles are headed — no question about it.
Now, to be clear, all signs point to Justin Herbert playing Monday. The injured finger is on his non-throwing hand, so if he’s physically able, he’s going to suit up. And honestly? I want the Eagles to face Herbert instead of Lance. Not because it’s some tactical edge — I just want this team to earn a real, quality win against a real, quality opponent.
It feels like the Eagles just need something to finally break their way. One explosive Saquon run. One monster throw from Jalen Hurts. One statement win on Monday night against an AFC contender. Any of those could be the spark that pulls them out of this tailspin.
I’ll admit it’s a repeat of 2023 when it’s actually a repeat of 2023. As of right now, the 2025 Birds still have a fighting chance — not just to sneak into the playoffs, but to win the division and maybe even steal the No. 1 seed.
There’s still a full month of football left to right the ship. This thing isn’t over.
