This clueless Eagles fan was caught celebrating the game-losing interception, and I could not be more envious
The Philadelphia Eagles lost to the Chargers 22-19 in an overtime thriller. Jalen Hurts’ game-losing interception pretty much snatched all joy from the Eagles fans in attendance. Well, except for one fan caught celebrating like they’d scored the game-winning touchdown.
You may think this Eagles fan is an idiot – and that may be true – but, to me, she’s living the dream:
I would kill to be so blissfully unaware of everything that’s happening around me. Seriously, I would.
I spend so much time every day just thinking about things. Not in a philosophical way, either. I find new and exciting ways to bog myself down in the minutiae of everyday life. I’d be much happier if I could just turn my brain off and render myself unable to register anything going on in the world around me.
Imagine Larry David if he were 27, had all his hair, was raised Catholic, and had no creative outlet to unleash his specific brand of neuroticism onto the world. That’s pretty much where I’m at. Some call it anxiety; I just call it being aware. More people should try it sometime.
Social interactions with strangers, driving, ordering food at a restaurant. You name something you do every day without thinking about it, and I’ve already dissected the situation and determined a million different ways it can go wrong.
I know I’m not the only one who wishes they could just shut the whole thing down for a little while and just aimlessly list through life.
And when it comes to sports? Forget about it. I’m a complete mess in high-leverage situations like this one. My adrenaline spikes just sitting on the couch watching it. I can imagine what a wreck I’d be if I were at this game in person. I let out an involuntary scream when that pass was intercepted, which I didn’t even realize was coming out until midway through said primal ululation.
Meanwhile, this girl has no fucking clue what’s going on, and she’s happier for it. Look how much joy she has in her heart until the Eagles fan next to her told her they lost. I guarantee you that if nobody said anything to her, she’d still be riding the high of an Eagles win.
In the end, I envy this girl. Now, if I were sitting in her section, she’d make my blood boil. Not only because my favorite football team just lost, but because I wish I were able to live like that, if only for a little while.
