Michigan coach Sherrone Moore fired for sleeping with staffer, detained by police shortly after in wild story

The college football world was rocked by Michigan coach Sherrone Moore’s firing. This began as an interesting story, but has become easily the craziest news in CFB this season – yes, crazier than the #LanesteinFiles – and has only spiraled further into chaos. It’s a twisting tale of infidelity, pregnancy, and violent threats. The story is still developing, but we have every possible detail for you right here.

Sherrone Moore was fired with cause for sleeping with a staffer, but the story only gets wilder from there:

First off, shout out to Connor Cook. He put that tweet out on Dec. 1. Cook really did say it first. There’s something to be said for CFB Twitter’s ability to break stories like this before reporters do. When things like this happen in pro sports, it’s reporters all over it. When it comes to college, it’s a completely different story.

Of course, this can sometimes do more harm than good, spreading misinformation across the internet. So, what we know for a fact is that Sherrone Moore was sleeping with Paige Shiver, his 24-year-old executive assistant. Bear in mind, this is a married man with three kids.

Based on what’s out there on the timeline, this has been going on for quite some time. One user shared a photo of Moore and Shiver walking by their on-campus house in April 2024.

Sure, a coach walking with his assistant on campus isn’t exactly cause for alarm. But, knowing what we know now, this photo is a piece of history. Things look good until they all go bad.

Another interesting wrinkle is his Instagram following. I don’t know what it is with some of these college coaches, but they possess an interminable horniness that burns with the strength of a thousand suns. Based on my (highly inaccurate) calculations, Moore follows more OnlyFans models than there are stars in the Leo Cluster.

But, okay, sexual impropriety is hardly the nuttiest thing to happen in CFB. It’s been a part of Lane Kiffin’s personal brand for over a decade, and he just got paid $12 million a year to coach at my beloved LSU.

When it was just cheating allegations, this stuff felt like a bombshell. Now that Sherrone Moore is in protective custody means there’s so much more to this story. Which, of course, I have acquired information on via the wild world of CFB Twitter.

What takes this to the next level is what transpired as a result of the aforementioned adultery. Moore allegedly got her pregnant, forced her to get an abortion, and doubled her salary. Word on the street is that there was a $55k pay bump for those keeping score at home.

From there, an all-coaches meeting was held without Sherrone Moore, which he knew meant that he was well and truly fucked. Instead of realizing the jig is up, he embarked on what can only be described as an O.J. Simpson-style crashout. Threatening to kill both himself and his mistress.

Sweet Jesus.

As I mentioned earlier, these stories can get out of hand in the world of college sports. These schools have massive communities around them that are tapped in in ways professional sports fans simply aren’t able to do.

So, I had hoped some of this would be exaggerated or misreported by overzealous CFB fans. But, unfortunately, these details have been confirmed. Needless to say, this story is a lot less fun to write about than the Lane Kiffin files. Sex and drugs are a lot more fun when nobody is threatening to kill anybody. At least that’s my personal opinion on the matter.
