Just when you thought it couldn’t possibly get any worse, Spike Eskin proposes an ‘Eagles Positivity Pledge’ against the Raiders on Sunday which includes standing ovations and no booing
This is exactly the type of nonsense I was talking about yesterday. It has already happened again, so I will remind everyone once more that 94.1 WIP does not speak for this fanbase. They hold zero authority, zero credibility, and the last person on earth who should represent Philadelphia sports fans is Spike Eskin.
Philly Sports Talk Radio is broken and 94.1 WIP is dragging everyone down with it
The audacity it takes for Eskin to get behind a microphone and claim that the “rumors” surrounding the Eagles are so bad that the fanbase must give the offense a standing ovation on Sunday against the Kenny Pickett led Raiders is unbelievable.
According to him, no one inside Lincoln Financial Field should be allowed to boo for the first quarter either. Now, you have other media outlets reporting that Eagles fan are trying to rally around their team on Sunday against the Raiders and proposed that we should not boo if they suck again and actually, give the offense a standing ovation.
I might jump off the Ben Franklin Bridge.
Yet again, this shows how completely out of touch WIP has become. At first I assumed Eskin was joking or being his typical smug, asshole self, especially after getting dragged across social media for the past 48 hours.
After suffering through the clip, it appears Spike Eskin was dead serious. The man actually thinks that people give a shit about what he says and that the Eagles Positivity Pledge is not the lamest shit ever spoken on Philly Sports Talk Radio.

Question: Can Spike Eskin get any worse?
Dumb question on my part. The guy literally outdoes himself on a daily basis. It’s impressive and completely pathetic at the same time.
I do not think he has ever made a coherent sports point in his life. He is a theater kid who performs on a stage that happens to be the city’s biggest sports radio station.
We already watched him turn The Process into some bizarre performance art project with the Rights to Ricky Sanchez podcast. We suffered through the Trea Turner standing ovation saga and now here he is again, trying to turn Philadelphia Eagles fans into props for whatever cringe content he wants to manufacture.
This is not the NBA or MLB. This is the NFL. This is Eagles football.
The idea that any fan who is waking up at 6 AM to tailgate in freezing weather is going to listen to Spike Eskin tell them to clap politely and refrain from booing is laughable.
The man talks like he has never been to an Eagles game in his life.
You would think that after your entire radio station gets roasted online for being completely out of touch, there would be a meeting the next morning to figure out how to fix the mess. Instead, Eskin just doubles down and makes an even worse point than the one before.
For everyone who says stop listening to 94.1 WIP, I do not listen to them. I never have. But I also run a Philadelphia sports website that reaches more than 30,000 readers per day. It is my job to know what the local media is saying, even if it means suffering through miserable clips from stations that would be better off turned into white noise machines until actual games come on.
Who does Spike Eskin even think he is talking to when he makes these statements?
It is definitely not Eagles fans. There is not a single person in this city who is going to hear this take and say, “You know what, Spike is right, let me go clap for this offense on Sunday.” The only reason he does this is because he knows how ridiculous it is.
He knows it will get people like me to write about how dumb it is. He knows it will create engagement for a station that has once again embarrassed itself to levels that no one thought were possible.
Mission accomplished, I guess.
Before anyone suggests again that writing about 94.1 WIP, Joe Giglio, or Spike Eskin actually just gives them free promotion, let me clarify a few things.
That might be the dumbest comment that I received yesterday from… I don’t know, over 100 of you on Twitter and Facebook. It’s stupid because everyone in the city of Philadelphia already knows Spike Eskin is an idiot and eeryone already hates 94.1 WIP.
If anything, actually speaking up about how bad the radio station is and how god awful their hosts are, makes other people want to voice their thoughts on the topic too. It’s about time we start holding radio hosts responsible for being shitty at their jobs, just like we do with our sports teams.
I would also suggest that we have elections and form political sports parties where the fanbase can actually vote on who gets to be their voice. I wonder how many people at 94.1 WIP or hell, even 97.5 The Fanatic would be employed after that?
Really makes you think.
Speaking of the other radio station in the city, no one cares about 97.5 The Fanatic either. I’m sorry, I know they are trying to change the narrative over there but it’s just not working. The best suggestion I saw online yesterday was that both stations should be replaced by white noise until live sports are on.
I wish I could find the tweet, but when you write multiple pieces shredding WIP in a single day and they all go viral, it becomes hard to keep track.
Anyway, here we are. Another day, another unhinged take from a host trying to stir controversy for attention. Eagles fans will show up on Sunday and act exactly how Eagles fans always act. That is the beauty of this city. No theater kid with a microphone is ever going to change that.
