Dan Quinn vows redemption against Eagles after late two-point play, even though he gave up in the 4th quarter
Commanders head coach Dan Quinn didn’t seem very happy with the Eagles two-point conversion play late in Saturday night’s contest.
After going up 27-10 in the 4th, Nick Sirianni called a two-point play to put the game completely out of reach. Without saying it out loud, Dan Quinn accused Sirianni of running up the score. In Sirianni’s own words, he was just doing what the analytics department told him to:
“We were up 17. To go up 18, we did the math and said hey we wanted to be able to make sure we were up 19. We thought it was a little bit better. That way they could only tie you with a field goal and two two-point conversions — two touchdowns and two-point conversions. We were already up three scores. We wanted to make sure we went up that way, just in case. That was what our math told us in that particular case and that’s what we did, and we went and executed.”
The Commanders coach, despite waving the white flag in the fourth quarter by punting in clear go-for-it sutations down by a ton, cried to the media after the game about the Eagles going for two.
Dan Quinn promises redemption against the big mean Eagles
“We’ll see them again in two weeks.”
Correction: You’ll probably see the Eagles backups in two weeks. They did this little thing called winning the division when they beat your team on Saturday, Dan Quinn. And with how things are shaping up, they probably won’t have anything to play for in Week 18.
Your team also has nothing to play for. Honestly, going out and trying to win that Week 18 game isn’t in Washington’s best interest. It’s all about draft positioning for your group. The Eagles aren’t a shit show of a franchise so this time of year, they’re usually playing for playoff positioning instead.
