ESPN gets called out for a misleading Caitlin Clark graphic, and we have every reason to be pissed off
Us Caitlin Clark fans are reaching the point of exhaustion. We just want to watch her play basketball and all come together and enjoy her greatness. Instead, in shocking news to no one, ESPN tries to belittle and tear her down any chance they get.
This time, we aren’t letting it fly.

During ESPN’s broadcast of Notre Dame vs. North Carolina on January 11, freshman star Hannah Hidalgo went nuclear, dropping 31 points. ESPN decided to commemorate the moment with a stat graphic highlighting “Most 30-point games vs. AP-ranked opponents since the 2023–24 season.”
That graphic went viral almost immediately — not because it celebrated Hidalgo, but because of how Caitlin Clark was framed within it.
Rachel DeMita calls out ESPN

Enter Rachel DeMita. Yes, that Rachel DeMita from the NBA 2K TV days. Back when basketball coverage was actually fun and when 2K was actually a good game. Now she’s running her own platform and, more importantly, calling out nonsense when she sees it.
Why the Graphic Was Misleading
At face value, the graphic makes it appear that JuJu Watkins clearly leads the pack, with Caitlin Clark sitting behind her, followed by Paige Bueckers and Hannah Hidalgo.
But DeMita explained why that surface-level takeaway is wildly misleading.
“If you’re not paying attention to the fine print, you’d think JuJu is way ahead, Caitlin is second, Paige is third, and Hannah is right there,” DeMita said. “But then you notice the qualifier — since the 2023–24 season.”
That’s where the framing gets shady. Once you factor in time played, the graphic starts to fall apart.
“Caitlin Clark had seven 30-point games against ranked opponents in one season,” DeMita explained. “Paige had five over two seasons. Hannah had five over about two-and-a-half seasons. JuJu had ten over two seasons.”
Here’s what ESPN conveniently left out. Caitlin Clark had 23 career 30-point games against AP-ranked opponents during her time at Iowa.

This isn’t about tearing down Hannah Hidalgo. It’s not even about JuJu Watkins or Paige Bueckers. It’s about how ESPN consistently frames Caitlin Clark like she just happened to be part of the conversation — instead of the standard everyone else is chasing.
So, shoutout to my girl Rachel DeMita, and honestly fuck ESPN. Seriously. I’m still pissed off at you guys and your dispute with Youtube TV.
