Zack Wheeler has a strange souvenir in his closet after successful surgery
Phillies ace Zack Wheeler is down in Clearwater for Spring Training after thoracic outlet syndrome ended his 2025 season. His surgery was a success, but required the removal of one of his ribs. According to Wheels, he’s holding onto it for safekeeping.
Zack Wheeler is keeping the rib in his closet as a souvenir:

I mean, what the hell, Zack? I have even more questions.
Is the rib just loose in the closet? Is it in a display case? I need to know the exact location and presentation of the rib. It’s got my journalism senses tingling. Either that, or it’s giving me the heebie jeebies something fierce.
If the Phillies were smart, they would take that rib and go full Creation of Eve on it. This rotation needs top-end talent, especially with Wheeler set to retire soon and Ranger Suarez signing with the Red Sox.
If Dave Dombrowski can spearhead some cloning procedure to help bolster our pitching staff, then the way he’s bugled this offseason will be mostly forgiven. I’m not asking for a miracle, Dave. I’m just asking that you try.
Unfortunately, the Philadelphia media did not ask the most obvious follow-up question. Be it a result of ignorance, cowardice, or an unfortunate combination of the two, Phillies fans are left wondering if he’s… you know… tried it yet.
I won’t state exactly what I mean, but if you know, then you certainly know. Regardless, I’m happy to see Zack Wheeler healthy and in good spirits heading into Spring Training.
