Jean Segura Bryce Harper Phillies Clubhouse

WATCH: Jean Segura recalled Bryce Harper kicking him out of the Phillies clubhouse and somehow social media made it negative

This one has me genuinely laughing. A clip has been floating around this week, translated and written by Master Flip, of former Phillie Jean Segura telling the story of the time Bryce Harper told him to get out of the clubhouse.

Social media has apparently decided this is a bad look for Harper. I need everyone to slow down and actually read what happened here.

According to the translation, here’s Jean Segura in his own words:

“He straight up told me to shut up. He came over and said, ‘Get the fuck outta here, you’re not the only one in the clubhouse.’ Man, I just left. I was on FaceTime with Carlos Santana and some guys from Cleveland.

When we hop on those calls, yeah, we get a little loud. Dominicans are loud, we gotta keep it real. But he hit me with that line, the clubhouse isn’t just yours. I grabbed my phone and my little speaker, walked out, and finished the conversation outside.

What else was I supposed to do? He said his piece, then went right back to his locker like nothing happened. I told myself, let me swallow my pride and my manhood and I grabbed my phone and speaker and stepped out. They just gave him a $330 million deal. What was I gonna do, start something?”

Okay so let me get this straight.

Jean Segura was on FaceTime with Carlos Santana and a bunch of guys from Cleveland. Not his own teammates. Guys from Cleveland. And he had the whole thing blasting through a Bluetooth speaker in the middle of the Phillies clubhouse.

Jean Segura even admitted that they get loud on those calls. So we are talking about a loud, Bluetooth speaker FaceTime call with players from another team happening in the locker room where his teammates are trying to prepare for a baseball game.

And people are mad at Bryce Harper?

Jean Segura recalls getting kicked out of the clubhouse by Bryce Harper

I cannot believe this is even a debate. Bryce Harper walked over, told him to take it outside, went back to his locker, and that was it.

Jean Segura grabbed his stuff and left without incident. He even told the story with a laugh, acknowledging he had to swallow his pride a little because what was he really going to do.

The man literally said “they just gave him $330 million, what was I gonna do, start something?” That is not a guy recounting a traumatic moment. That is a guy telling a funny clubhouse story.

The only thing wild about this entire situation is that Jean Segura thought a loud Bluetooth speaker FaceTime with guys from Cleveland was acceptable behavior in a professional locker room in the first place. Bryce Harper was doing everyone in that building a favor.

Case closed. Next.
