VJ Edgecombe on Joel Embiid: “Just some things you can’t teach and can’t stop”

After the Sixers demolished the Bulls 157-137 on Wednesday night in historic fashion, VJ Edgecombe was asked about playing with Joel Embiid for the first time in a month. His answer was perfect.

VJ Edgecombe on Joel Embiid:

“I always ask him every time we’re on the floor, is he okay, is he okay, is he okay. But first game back he had 35 points, man. Just some things you can’t teach and can’t stop. Joel’s one person you can’t stop.”

That is exactly what watching Joel Embiid feels like.

You spend the whole time holding your breath hoping nothing goes wrong and then he goes 12-for-17 from the field, 3-for-3 from three, with 35 points, seven assists, and six rebounds in 28 minutes and you remember why he is one of the most gifted offensive players the sport has ever produced.

They told you Joel Embiid was washed.

There are nine games left in the regular season and the roster is finally coming back together. George was back Wednesday. Maxey and Oubre are expected back within the next week. The Sixers remain in the seventh seed, half a game behind Toronto in sixth and a game behind Atlanta in fifth, with a game lead over the Heat in eighth.

One Healthy Playoff Run. Please God.

Nine games to get healthy, climb out of the play-in, and get into the bracket with something to build on. If this team gets into the playoffs with everyone available for the first time all season then you already know what the conversation becomes.

You already know.
