Howie Roseman NFL Draft

Report: Howie Roseman is looking at several trade options ahead of NFL Draft, including Pro Bowl pass rusher

If there’s anyone who knows how to play the NFL Draft game, it’s Howie Roseman.

With the draft set to kick off this week, there’s been a ton of buzz around Howie and what the Eagles might do on draft night. Outside of the obvious AJ Brown stuff, Adam Schefter reported that Howie has several trade targets on his radar, including Vikings Pro Bowl pass rusher Jonathan Greenard.

Howie Roseman will be active on draft night, as he always is

Per Schefter, “League sources say the Eagles and Vikings could revisit discussions they already have had during the upcoming draft, but talks have lost steam in recent weeks. The Eagles’ wish list of trade candidates goes well beyond Greenard, per sources, though. Roseman almost always has a Plan A, B, C and D, and his team is one to monitor on one of the busiest weekends of the NFL calendar.”

Love the sound of that. Greenard fills an obvious need for the Birds, and Howie Roseman could probably get him at a discount. Last season, Greenard recorded just three sacks, but he still posted a respectable 23.3% pass rush win rate. In the two years before that, he put up a combined 24.5 sacks.

At 28 years old, this feels like the kind of move where Howie could work his magic and land a former Pro Bowler at a discount.

As for the other players on Roseman’s wishlist, Schefter didn’t mention any names. A few positions I’d keep an eye on are safety, offensive line, and interior defensive line. Safety is probably the biggest need going into draft night, but the positional value may not justify using a high pick there, and the Eagles haven’t exactly had a great track record drafting safeties early.

With the draft only a few days away, we’ll find out soon enough what Howie Roseman is cooking up.
