Eagles Schedule Release: Birds will travel to Dallas for Thanksgiving showdown this season

The Eagles are playing the Cowboys on Thanksgiving this year, which means millions of families across America will be forced to argue over politics, cranberry sauce, and why Dallas still gets treated like a serious football operation.

Beautiful.

The Birds will head to Dallas on November 26 for a 4:30 PM game on FOX. It will be their first Thanksgiving trip to Dallas since 2014, when they beat the Cowboys 33-10 and gave every Eagles fan a perfectly good reason to ignore their family for three hours.

This is what Thanksgiving football should be. Eagles. Cowboys. National TV. Everyone bloated, drunk, and pretending they are not seconds away from screaming at a cousin over a third-and-7 play call.

Eagles Thanksgiving history has been pretty damn good

The Eagles are 6-1 all time on Thanksgiving, which is hilarious because Dallas acts like they own the holiday.

They do not.

The Birds beat the Cowboys 27-0 in the 1989 “Bounty Bowl,” one of the funniest rivalry games ever played. Jimmy Johnson accused Buddy Ryan of putting bounties on Cowboys players. Buddy denied it, then basically turned the whole thing into a fat joke at his own expense.

That was Eagles-Cowboys in its purest form. Violence. Complaining. Weird quotes. Dallas crying. Philadelphia laughing.

Now we get another chapter.

Dallas was 7-9-1 last year, but they still have Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, and George Pickens, so the offense can move the ball. Their defense was a disaster, which is why they spent the offseason trying to fix it with Rashan Gary, Caleb Downs, and Malachi Lawrence.

Cute.

The Eagles already split with them last season. Now they get Dallas on Thanksgiving with the whole country watching.

That is exactly where this rivalry belongs.

Pass the stuffing. Beat Dallas.
