Trouble in Paradise: Giants have Jaxson Dart and Abdul Carter doing damage control after NY Trump rally
Giants football is alive and well, which means the season is already weird and we have not even made it to June.
Beautiful stuff.
Jaxson Dart introduced Donald Trump at a rally in New York on Friday night, which is already a sentence that sounds like someone lost a bet. Dart got on stage, led a “Go Big Blue” chant, called it an honor and a privilege, then introduced Trump to the crowd.
Honestly, I couldn’t care less about this kind of stuff. I don’t put any stock into the political beliefs of professional athletes. If you do, you’re an idiot.
Saquon Barkley went golfing with Trump last offseason and everyone was made about it for about one fully day. It didn’t stop any of us from cheering Saquon on while he was dicing up opposing defenses. That’s because no one actually gives a shit. It’s posturing for an algorithm. Pretty retarded if you ask me, but I digress.
Nevertheless, Dart’s teammate and future Eagle, Abdul Carter, was not very happy about what Dart did.
Abdul Carter saw the clip of Dart and responded like most people probably did.
“Thought this s— was AI, what we doing man.”
Fair question, honestly.
Carter later cleaned it up and said he and Dart were good. He posted that they spoke “as Men” and told people to keep their narratives. A few other Giants players jumped in too. Darius Slayton pushed back on a bogus claim about Dart. Jermaine Eluemunor said the locker room was fine and told people to focus on New England.
So maybe this is nothing. Maybe they talked it out. Maybe everyone shows up to work, acts like professionals, and this disappears in a week.
Also, it is the Giants.
So forgive Eagles fans for enjoying the visual of their two supposed franchise cornerstones already becoming a national story because one introduced Trump at a rally and the other basically asked what the hell was going on.
These are the guys New York is building around. Dart is supposed to be the quarterback. Carter is supposed to be the defensive monster. They are the fresh start. They are the new era. They are the hope.
And now the new era is doing PR cleanup before Memorial Day weekend is even over.
No one does offseason comedy like the Giants.
Jaxson Dart and the Giants already has enough to prove
The funniest part is Dart is not exactly Tom Brady walking into a rally with six rings and nothing left to prove.
He went 4-8 as a starter last season. He had flashes. He ran around. He made some plays. He also plays quarterback for a franchise that has spent most of the last decade wandering around the NFL like a lost child at a rest stop.
Maybe Dart becomes good. Maybe he doesn’t. Who knows.
But this is a brutal way to start the offseason when you are still trying to win over a locker room, a fan base, and the rest of the league.
Quarterbacks are supposed to be boring in May. Throw some passes in shorts. Say the offense is ahead of schedule. Talk about building chemistry. Post a picture from the facility. Go home.
Dart decided to hop on stage at a political rally and turn himself into the main character for a weekend.
As an Eagles fan, thank you for your service.
Abdul Carter probably should have kept the group chat private
Carter is not exactly a ten-year veteran either.
He was the No. 3 overall pick. He showed real flashes as a rookie. He also had some discipline stuff pop up with attendance and tardiness. So he is not really in a spot where he needs extra attention either.
Still, his first reaction was the honest one.
He saw his quarterback introducing Trump and basically said, “What are we doing?”
That is group chat material. That is the kind of thing you text your boys, laugh about, and move on. Carter put it on the internet, and then the internet did what the internet does. It turned a weird clip into a whole locker room referendum.
Then came the cleanup tweet.
Classic.
Post first. Realize the Giants are about to become a national topic. Call the quarterback. Tell everyone the locker room is fine.
Nothing screams “everything is totally normal” like multiple players having to publicly explain that everything is totally normal.
Eagles fans know what a real foundation looks like
This is where the gap between the Eagles and Giants feels hilarious.
The Eagles have their own drama. Every good team does. AJ Brown can post a vague quote and cause a local radio station to foam at the mouth for 72 straight hours. Jalen Hurts can blink wrong and five former players will go on TV to question his leadership.
But the Eagles have earned the benefit of the doubt because they win.
The Giants have not earned anything.
They are still trying to convince people they have a quarterback. They are still trying to build around young stars. They are still trying to become a serious franchise again. And before June, their two biggest young pieces are already tied to a public rift over politics.
Maybe it goes nowhere.
Hopefully, for them, it goes nowhere.
For Eagles fans, though, this is just another reminder that the Giants remain the Giants. A franchise that can turn a dead part of the NFL calendar into a full-blown headache without even trying.
The season is already rocky in New York.
And the pads are not even on yet.

People should just talk via presidential elections and not worry about what other people say or do and do what they are paid to do. One of the reasons polls are a waste of time is that most people dont care to tell you who they are voting for. Dart did nothing wrong doing what he felt was an honor to do. Did Dart criticize Carter for what was mostly a disappointing rookie season, which is something Carter should be focusing on.
