Police said the truck’s owner had pulled into the convenience store. A passenger was standing near the front passenger-side door. A dog was in the back seat of the vehicle and moved from one side to the other. That movement triggered a shotgun that had a live shell in the chamber.
The gun fired, partially hitting a woman in the process. Luckily, it wasn’t fatal. One pellet from the shotgun blast hit her in the upper right arm.
Her injury was not believed to be life-threatening, and a family member took her to Regional West Medical Center for treatment.
