WATCH: Red Card rescinded, Cavan Sullivan buries one against Austin FC

Just over 24 hours after his midweek red-card suspension got rescinded, Cavan Sullivan went out and scored the opener in a 1-1 draw at Austin FC for his second career MLS goal on Saturday night. You can’t script this stuff, and honestly, it’s exactly what we’ve come to expect from this kid.

Remember, this whole thing shouldn’t have even been possible.

Cavan Sullivan wasn’t expected to play at all, let alone score, until an Independent Review Panel overturned the one-game suspension and fine he picked up for sticking up for his brother in Wednesday’s 2-2 draw with Inter Miami.

The panel got it right, tossed the suspension, and Sullivan wasted zero time reminding everyone why that call mattered. Talk about a response.

Cavan Sullivan broke the ice at Q2 Stadium in the 18th minute, nodding home Nathan Harriel’s redirected header from close range and with that goal, he’s now up to 5 goals and 11 assists in 25 games across all competitions during a genuine breakout 2026 campaign.

Those are serious numbers for anyone, let alone a 16-year-old. It’s the kind of production that has the whole fanbase itching for his first US Men’s National Team call-up, and frankly, that call can’t come soon enough.
