March 17th: Eagles Free Agency Notes

The Eagles have agreed to a three-year, $39 million deal with free agent Javon Hargrave.

Hargrave is 27 years old and has spent his career on the other side of PA in Pittsburgh. The Steelers drafted him in the 3rd round in 2016 out of South Carolina. He has started 52 of 63 games for the Steelers.

Hargrave’s contract will make him the highest paid nose tackle in the league averaging around $13 million per year. It will make him the 6th highest-paid player on the Eagles.

Who are you going to double team on a defensive line with both Fletcher Cox and Javon Hargrave? The addition definitely gives Jim Schwartz some flexibility on the defensive line and should create headaches for the opposing team. At times last season, pressuring the QB was an issue. This move will ideally resolve that problem.

During his 4 years with the Steelers, Hargrave mustered up 17 sacks, 90 run stops, and 94 QB hurries. Eagles fans should be super happy with this signing.

In what has been a slow free agency for the Eagles so far, they have also parted ways with Super Bowl hero Corey Clement.

The Eagles are also bringing back Nate Sudfeld on a one-year contract.

Hassan Ridgeway will also be returning to the defensive line.

We’ll keep ya updated. In a world with no sports – NFL Free Agency finally brought us some excitement back. Hopefully Howie has a few more moves incoming. Defensive backs and Wide Receivers would be nice, Howie!

Fly Eagles Fly.
