76ers Sign Ryan Broekhoff

The 76ers seem to have made their free agency decision. According to Adrian Wojnarowski, the Sixers are signing Shooting Guard/Small Forward Ryan Broekhoff to a deal ahead of their return to Disney.

Having last played with the Dallas Mavericks in February, Broekhoff was waived in order to sign Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and has yet to have signed with a team. Before Dallas, the 29-year-old was playing overseas before signing a 2-year deal in 2018.

Broekhoff provides another 3 point shooter off the bench for the Sixers in case someone like Furkan Korkmaz or Glenn Robinson were to go down with an injury. His major knock is currently his lack of playing in the NBA, having only been in a total of 59 games in 2 years, 17 this season. But hopefully, he can be someone who is available if needed and play his role well.

As mentioned above, this signing does not likely mean that he will be in the rotation and will probably be a depth piece in case of an emergency injury. This brings the 76ers to 16 players on their roster. If Marial Shayok is promoted to the roster full time which is likely the scenario, this will fill out the 76ers 17 player roster going into the remainder of their season next month.

Broekhoff is also from Melbourne, Australia so maybe this signing also provides Ben Simmons with some comfort in another player from his hometown.
