Phillies send Aaron Nola to the mound tonight vs the Mets

Aaron Nola takes the mound today vs the Mets at 6:05pm today. He’s coming off two excellent starts striking out 12 last Monday against the Yankees and 10 against the Braves on August 5th. Nola holds an impressive 7-1 record and a 3.13 ERA in 13 career starts against the Mets.
The Phillies will look to build off yesterday’s comeback / walk-off win against the Mets which came on a Bryce Harper single to right. Roman Quinn came around third and miraculously was safe a the plate after an excellent slide to beat the tag.
First, walk it off.
Then, ring it. #RingTheBell pic.twitter.com/0FzdlEKgxv— Philadelphia Phillies (@Phillies) August 15, 2020
The Phillies battled back yesterday after Hector Neris blew his 2nd save of the week. JT Realmuto stayed scorching hot with a 3-run HR. Every player last night in the lineup had a base hit yesterday, which was great to see given the fact that to date, Bryce Harper and JT Realmuto have carried the majority of the Phillies offense.
Great news tonight as the Phillies will face Steven Matz, who is 0-3 with a 8.20 ERA, and coming off a terrible outing against the Nationals in which he let up eight runs.
The Phillies have had success against Matz in the past. In Matz’s career against the Phillies, he is 2-4 mark with a 5.48 ERA in 11 games, 10 starts
The Phillies are currently 6-9 (nice) and desperately need to get on a nice winning streak. The bullpen issue seems like it’s here to stay for now, but besides the costly run given up by Neris in the Top of the 9th, the pen pitched 5.2 innings of scoreless ball last night.
I think last night’s victory against the Mets, although coming from a blown save, was huge for this team and will give them a little jolt of energy coming into tonight. Harper and Realmuto can carry this team offensively if there are men on base for them to do damage.
See you tonight at 6:05pm.
Ring that bell, baby.
