Eagles hire Jason Michael to be next tight ends coach

The Eagles are putting the final touches on their offensive staff. Yesterday, Brian Johnson was hired to be the new QB coach, and now Jason Michael will become the new tight ends coach for the Eagles. Nick Sirianni adds yet another Colts assistant to his staff. Michael joins Jonathan Gannon and Kevin Patullo as other former Colts now with the Eagles.
Michael was with Indianapolis for the previous two seasons. The 42-year-old has been a coach in the NFL for 15 years. Before arriving in Indianapolis, Michael was the offensive coordinator for the Tennessee Titans from 2014 to 2015. In his two seasons as OC, the Titans held a bottom four offense in the NFL. Michael has a relationship with new offensive coordinator Shane Steichen. The two were with the Chargers together in 2011 and 2012.
Former tight end coach Justin Peele left a few days ago to join the Atlanta Falcons under the same position. Peele has been Dallas Goedert and Zach Ertz’s coach for the last five years and was a massive part of their development.
With all of these hirings, only a few offensive position coaches remain. Following Duce Staley’s departure, the running back coach position is still open. Standout wide receiver coach Aaron Moorehead could return, but no news has indicated one way or another yet.
