Eagles sign UDFA quarterback Jamie Newman

The quarterback factory continues. Philadelphia might have found their third-string quarterback, signing former Wake Forest and Georgia quarterback Jamie Newman. Newman was a highly touted prospect on day three but slid out of the draft after opting out of the 2020 season. There was an incredible amount of hype around Newman before opting out. He was a projected as a first-round selection and a potential Heisman candidate.
During his three seasons with Wake Forest, Newman was a backup before starting the entire 2019 season. Through 12 games, Jamie threw for over 2,800 yards and 26 touchdowns with a 61% completion percentage. His mobility and arm strength made Newman such a great QB, but he struggled with his accuracy.
Unless anything changes, it is likely Jamie Newman could be the QB3 for the Eagles in 2021. The Eagles have brought in numerous UDFAs following the draft, including wide receivers Trevon Grimes and Jhamon Ausbon.
