Eagles sign UDFA wide receiver Jhamon Ausbon

UDFA signings are starting to pour in for the Philadelphia Eagles. According to Tom Pelissero, the Eagles have signed Texas A&M receiver Jhamon Ausbon. Ausbon is a stocky possession wideout standing at 6โ€™2 and weighing 217 pounds. Ausbon will be joining a receiver group led by top draft selection DeVonta Smith and Jalen Reagor.

During his three seasons with the Aggies, Jhamon was a significant contributor in every season. In 2019, Ausbon had over 870 yards through 13 games but opted out of this past season due to COVID-19. Adding someone who can work through contested catches will be a nice boost to this Eagles offense and will compliment Reagor and Smith’s speed nicely.

The drawbacks on Ausbon arenโ€™t very major. With his stocky build comes a lack of speed and leads to an inability to break away from cornerbacks very often. Alongside his slow route-running, Jhamonโ€™s production was very inconsistent in college. Despite that, this is an excellent pickup in free agency, and Ausbon will be able to grow nicely on the Eaglesโ€™ practice squad.
