Is Bill Belichick doing some recruiting at Eagles-Patriots joint practice?

An interesting conversation went down during today’s joint practice with the New England Patriots. According to Jamie Apody, Zach Ertz talked with Patriots head coach Bill Belichick after practice when BB said some intriguing comments regarding Ertz.
“I’m still going to get you someday, But Howie wants two first-round picks. AND 2 of my grandchildren!” -Bill Belichick
Before diving into the statement, this is all just banter and not likely meant to be taken seriously. New England was in the tight end market this offseason, notoriously handing out big contracts to both Hunter Henry and Jonnu Smith. At the same time, Howie Roseman was reported to have a hefty price tag attached to Ertz so it makes sense why Bill Belichick never acquired him.
An opportunity for these two to work together likely won’t come for some time. New England dished out a lot of cap and it makes no sense to have three highly paid tight ends on a roster. Meanwhile, after discussions he would hold out and not play for Philly, the relationship between Zach Ertz and the Eagles seems to have been amended.
It has been an exciting session with the Patriots, with Jalen Mills getting into scuffles with his former teammates while Nelson Agholor is looking good after signing a big contract with New England. Philly will be hosting the Patriots for a preseason game this Thursday at Lincoln Financial Field.
