Former NFL WR joins Eagles staff as coaching intern

The Eagles have a new addition to their staff in the midst of training camp. According to Zach Berman, former NFL wide receiver Eddie Royal is on a coaching internship with the Philadelphia Eagles. Royal played for Sirianni when he was with the San Diego Chargers several years back.Â
It’s unclear what Eddie Royal’s exact role is with Philadelphia, but he is likely helping out WR coach Aaron Moorehead. Royal was in the NFL for nine seasons from 2008 through 2016. During his time with the Chargers, Royal totaled over 1,500 yards and 16 touchdowns in three seasons.Â
The 35-year-old could help with some of the speedsters on the Eagles’ offense, like Jalen Reagor and the surging Quez Watkins. Currently, for Philadelphia, they are preparing for their second preseason game on Thursday night against the New England Patriots.
