Dick Vermeil named finalist for 2022 Pro Football Hall of Fame

An Eagles legend has a chance to be immortalized next summer. Today, the NFL announced that former Philadelphia Eagles head coach Dick Vermeil was selected as a coach finalist for the 2022 NFL Hall of Fame.

Vermeil is a top-five coach in Eagles’ history, taking the franchise to their first Super Bowl appearance in 1981 against the Oakland Raiders. During his time with Philly, Dick Vermeil led the team to their first playoff appearance in 18 years and won Sporting News Coach of the Year in 1979.

Although he was only with the franchise for six years, Vermeil is a member of the Eagles’ Hall of Fame and has been close to making Canton for the last few years. Recently the former head coach has had a lot of praise for the Eagles, predicting them to have a winning season in 2021 despite many thinking otherwise.
