Report: Ben Simmons doesn’t want to improve his trade value

Another day, another Ben Simmons rumor. Earlier today, ESPN’s Brian Windhorst reported that Ben Simmons has been sending a message to the 76ers that “it’s not his job to fix his trade value.” Windhorst continued to say Simmons will receive half of his $33 million this season on October 1st, leading to the fact that Simmons does not care about playing because he will be paid regardless.

Most rumors surrounding Ben Simmons haven’t been legitimate, but Windhorst is another reporter with very close ties to LeBron James and Klutch, so his word is reliable on this. A few days ago, Simmons made it clear he is willing to forgo over $1 million to sit out training camp and will not play for the 76ers again.

Simmons’ leverage in this situation is incredibly low, and it won’t look good to interested teams, with this message possibly coming off as he doesn’t want to improve his game. Rich Paul and Klutch continue to be an issue for the NBA, with Paul attempting to pull Maxey out of Philly before reversing course following a public backlash. 76ers training camp is just a few weeks away, so a resolution could be on the horizon.
