Report: Ben Simmons willing to lose over $1 million to skip 76ers training camp

It looks like Ben Simmons is serious about no longer playing in Philadelphia. According to Brian Windhorst, Ben Simmons is prepared to hand over $1.3 million in fines for skipping the 76ers upcoming training camp. Simmons requested a trade from Philadelphia last week, and it was said he was willing to sit out training camp if it came to it.

The ongoing trade discussions haven’t been much over the last few days. More and more reports have surfaced regarding teams dropping out of negotiations, including the Golden State Warriors and Sacramento Kings. These continuing reports about Simmons not participating in any basketball activities will only tank his trade value while Daryl Morey tries to land a star in return.

If Ben Simmons does, in fact, not report, he will be the first prominent Philadelphia athlete in a long time to make a major fuss about wanting to be traded. Both fans and media have been ruthless about their criticism of the demand, making it look inevitable that a trade will occur in the coming weeks.

Even though some have dropped out, there are still some serious suitors interested in Simmons. The top teams include the Minnesota Timberwolves and Cleveland Cavaliers. Minnesota will likely need to include D’Angelo Russell in any trade, while Cleveland’s package would probably be centered around guard Collin Sexton.
