Flyers announce 5 injuries ahead of the start of training camp

Some devastating news for the Philadelphia Flyers ahead of the start of their training camp. Earlier today, the team announced several significant injuries that will likely linger into the beginning of the regular season on October 15th. Kevin Hayes, Sam Morin, Wade Allison, Zayde Wisdom, and Cooper Zech will be out for several weeks.
Flyers injury list:
- Kevin Hayes: Out 6-8 weeks due to abdominal surgery
- Sam Morin: Out 6-8 weeks due to surgery removing loose bodies in foot
- Wade Allison Out indefinitely with sprained ankle
- Zayde Wisdom: Out indefinitely due to shoulder surgery
- Cooper Zech: Out 6-8 weeks with an upper-body injury
Kevin Hayes’s surgery was a completely separate matter from the off-season injury he dealt with, he became aware of it while skating on Monday. With Hayes being out for next couple months, Flyers coach Alain Vigneault alluded to the possibility of Morgan Frost stepping up and potentially snatching a bigger role out of the gate.
Hayes’ 5-8 week injury absence opens a door for Morgan Frost to show what he can do, per AV.

The injuries to Sam Morin and Wade Allison are nothing short of heartbreaking, two guys who have gone through the gauntlet of injuries and rehab with more obstacles to get over yet again.
Alongside these injuries, Philly also released RW Ethan Burroughs and C Nolan Ritchie. Training camp will kick-off on Thursday with 57 players expected to attend, 32 forwards, 20 defensemen, and five goalies.
One week from today, Philadelphia will begin their preseason schedule, playing the New York Islanders on September 28th at the Wells Fargo Center. Based on the timelines laid out above, it doesn’t look like the Flyers will get any of these players back until early November at the earliest.
