Woj Bomb: Ben Simmons could return to the 76ers in the near future

The return of Ben Simmons? Just now, both Adrian Wojnarowski and Shams Charania have reported that the 76ers and Rich Paul have been in negotiations to bring the three-time All-Star back to Philadelphia. The deal is not final just yet, but the likelihood of Simmons returning has increased over the last few days.
According to Wojnarowski, the end goal remains the same, with the 76ers still looking for a trade partner. Several teams are still interested in Simmons, but no deal has piqued the Sixers’ interest so far. Philadelphia has been fining Simmons a hefty amount for missing training camp and preseason games, which could be why he is returning.
Doc Rivers and Daryl Morey have been hopeful that Ben Simmons would ultimately return to the team, with Morey referencing the Aaron Rodgers situation on media day. Before training camp, the 76ers players attempted to fly out to California to meet with Simmons but were turned away.
Adding Ben Simmons back to this roster will be a massive boost to not only the team but also Simmons. He can showcase his skills and additions to his game that could lead to better trade offers. Hopefully, the chemistry amongst the team will remain intact, and Simmons can remain professional if he returns.
Currently, the 76ers are gearing up for their third preseason game tonight against the Brooklyn Nets. Philly has one more preseason game before starting their regular season on the 20th against the New Orleans Pelicans. Any decision about returning would probably be made by then.
