Ben Simmons ends stand-off, returns to Philadelphia

He’s back. After a months-long stand-off, Ben Simmons has arrived back in Philadelphia, according to Adrian Wojnarowski. Simmons was rumored this morning to be possibly returning to the 76ers within the coming days while awaiting an eventual trade.
There has been no word yet on if/when Simmons will return to play, but Wojnarowski said on ESPN earlier that the first step was to get him back in contact with the organization. Philadelphia is hopeful to continue through the process and wants him back on the court as soon as possible. Simmons arrived during the 76ers’ preseason game against the Brooklyn Nets this evening, but there’s no word on whether his arrival was expected.
The return of Ben Simmons isn’t permanent, and it’ll be interesting to see what the dynamic is between him and the rest of the roster. There were rumors that Simmons could fake an injury to collect payments while with the team but not play, but there is a slim chance of that being successful.
Philadelphia kicks off their regular season in just nine days, with only one preseason game left after tonight. There isn’t much time for Ben Simmons to get situated ahead of the upcoming season, so a return in the near future is the best-case scenario for both sides.
