The Show Goes On: MACtion Week One, Night Two

First night of MACtion did not really go too well. Ball State won but failed to cover the -20.5 spread and Eastern Michigan blew the doors off Toledo. Out of four bets I gave you night one, two of them hit. Ball State Under and Ohio beating Miami (OH) as 7.5 point underdogs at home (money line +230). We’ll take a 50% night and the value of Ohio money line made up for any other losses. For not watching a single MAC game before last night, if you expected any better then honestly, that’s your fault, right?
Tonight we have two more MACtion games to close out Tuesday and Wednesday football for the first time this college football season. Let’s see what we can do.
If you’re a 76ers fan, I would jump over to tonight’s game preview and hop in on the Parx Sportsbook odds boost for the Sixers to score 110+ points and beat the Chicago Bulls. It was +150 and is now +200. Click Here for Details >>
We’re back to MACtion. Let’s get it.
Central Michigan at Western Michigan
TEAM | SPREAD | MONEYLINE | TOTALS |
Central Michigan | +8.5 (-109) | +230 | O 64.5 (-113) |
Western Michigan | -8.5 (-109) | -315 | U 64.5 (-108) |
Oh baby. We kick things off with an in-state battle that has been happening since 1907. In a game that’s dubbed “bigger than football”, the 4-4 Chippewas will face off against the Broncos. Both teams are 2-2 in MAC play.
The Chips are fast on offense and air the ball out. Pace of play is tremendous and new starting quarterback Daniel Richardson is coming off a fantastic game against the MAC leading Northern Illinois. Richardson went 23-for-36 for 289 yards and three touchdowns last week. On the year he completes almost 60% of his passes and has tossed 14 tuddys with only two picks.
The Chips get it done on the ground as well. Lew Nichols II has hit the 100 yard rushing mark in four of the last five games and has 915 rushing yards on the season.
The Broncos are run heavy but still have a solid quarterback in Kaleb Eleby. The QB completes 61% of his passes and has 12 tuddys on the season. The two headed running attack is what has been working for the Broncos this season.
The over is a high one at 64.5 but I’m all over it. Expect a lot of points in the Battle of Michigan. My heart is telling me to take the air rad of Central Michigan as well but with the Broncos at home, I’m not sure if I’m ready to go that route.
Parx Sportsbook Pick: OVER 65.5 (-114)
Northern Illinois at Kent State
TEAM | SPREAD | MONEYLINE | TOTALS |
Northern Illinois | +3 (-106) | +141 | O 71.5 (-113) |
Kent State | -3 (-121) | -177 | U 71.5 (-108) |
The leaders of the MAC by a full two games travel to Kent State tonight and are currently in the drivers seat for a MAC conference championship trophy. But wait a second, all of their wins are pretty suspect. Talk about looking good in the record column but bad in every other statistic.
Five Huskies wins came with a 3.8 margin of victory. There were a ton of late game comebacks and it’s clear that the Huskies are just a lucky bunch of dudes. They are definitely lucky to be facing a bad Kent State team tonight too.
Kent State finished September with a 1-3 record. They did have to play on the road in non conference games against Maryland, Texas A&M, and Iowa (lol) but that’s MAC life, baby.
The Golden Flashes have gone 3-1 in conference play and have fought back to .500 on the season. Much like the Huskies they tend to escape close games with victories. Their offense can move the ball but the defense is where things fall apart.
Honestly, I’m not sold on ANYTHING that the Huskies do. I know a fraud MAC team when I see one and the Huskies SCREAM frauds. I’m rocking with the Golden Flashes.
Parx Sportsbook Pick: Kent State -3
