Eagles cut cornerback, make room for likely promotion of Jordan Howard

Ahead of the Eagles’ game this Sunday, it looks like they could be opening up room for practice squad standout Jordan Howard. Earlier today, the team waived cornerback Mac McCain and brought back cornerback Craig James to the practice squad. By waiving McCain, the Eagles have one open slot on the active roster.

If the Eagles want to use Jordan Howard this week, they need to promote him, and Nick Sirianni alluded to this move earlier this week. It makes sense to do so, having been the primary back while Miles Sanders has been on the injured reserve. Howard was also not one of the practice squad players protected this week.

Nobody is expected to return from injured reserve yet, with Brandon Brooks not yet having a timetable while Miles Sanders cannot return until next week. Mac McCain was brought in earlier this season but hasn’t done much of anything, and the additions of Kary Vincent Jr. and Tay Gowan left him as the odd man out.
