New York Knicks fans embarrass themselves after beating the 76ers bench squad in the first week of November

Jeez. Talk about embarrassing. The Philadelphia 76ers lost last night in what turned out to be a close, competitive game to the New York Knicks 103-96. Heading into last night’s game, the Sixers gave word that Joel Embiid tested positive for COVID-19 and would be out for at least the next 10 days. Tobias Harris, Matisse Thybulle, and Isaiah Joe are all in health and safety protocols as well. Doc Rivers stuck with an eight-man rotation and the 76ers put in a fight to keep the game close to the very end. Unfortunately for the 76ers, they fell short and lost to a healthy New York Knicks team, snapping their six game winning streak.
The Philadelphia 76ers are still in first place in the Eastern Conference with an 8-3 record. They are listed as No. 1 in almost every Power Rankings on the internet. They are playing with a lineup filled with bench players. I was in attendance last night at the Wells Fargo Center and witnessed something I really have never seen before. Almost half of the stadium was filled with an opposing fan base.
I guess that could be explained by a few things:
- It’s Monday in November.
- Everyone in Philadelphia knows the NBA season doesn’t really start until January
- The entire Sixers lineup was hurt
- New York is an easy train ride away from South Philadelphia
Regardless, there were a ton of New York Knicks fans there and their actions were embarrassing and honestly, downright laughable. Knicks fans were obnoxious throughout the game. After the game things got worse. Some dude was following as I left the VIP Club Box that I watched the game from (flex). He was chanting “Knicks run Philly. The Process Failed.” Other idiots joined in while Sixers fans looked at them in disgust. I just laughed and shook my head, leaving the arena.
Apparently, more fans linked up outside of the Wells Fargo Center to continue to act like idiots.
Cool. I have never seen a bigger group of idiots in my entire life. November basketball is meaningless. The 76ers are in first place. Outside of this year, the Sixers beat the Knicks 16 times in a row. Last night, six out of eight people in our bench injury ridden lineup scored in double digits. You barely beat a bench unit. What are you so excited about?
Basically, the New York Knicks are a poverty franchise that hasn’t been relevant since the 90s. Outside of Julius Randle, their entire team is mediocre at best. Hell, RJ Barrett shot 6-for-20 from the field last night. If it wasn’t for Julius Randle shooting 5-for-10 from three point range, they would have gotten smoked for the second night in a row. On Sunday night, they let Ricky Rubio drop 37 on them in Cleveland. What a joke.
If they find joy in winning basketball games against a bench unit in November, then I would have to question their basketball knowledge. They don’t know ball and they don’t know how to act when they win. I couldn’t imagine getting excited over beating a team in November. Here in Philadelphia, we want to win championships. Nothing matters until later in the NBA season when we begin to gear up for the playoffs.
Be better Knicks fans. We’re all laughing at you.
