Eagles News: Washington media already waving the white flag

Eagles fans rejoice, the bye week is officially over. It is time to start preparing for a crucial divisional matchup with the Washington Football Team Sunday. Both teams are heading into this game with a 6-7 record. While the NFC East crown seems like it will be going to the Dallas Cowboys, both Philly and Washington are competing for a Wild Card spot in the playoffs.
The NFL, as well as the other major sports leagues, are dealing with a major COVID outbreak right now. As of right now, the Washington Football Team has 11 players on the Reserve/COVID-19 list. With ten of them being pieces of Washington’s defense.
A special thank you to our friends in the Washington media for providing us with the latest news. I will be in touch with them throughout the week for more updates. However, not everyone is our friend in the media. This is where we address the crybaby comments from a Washington media member.
The roster issues appear to be so one-sided that there really is no other story in this divisional game. I can’t tell anyone else how to treat this game, but I’m basically ready to write it off as the equivalent of a forfeit. Sure, the boys in burgundy & gold will go out and play their hearts out trying to win, but the Eagles are actually a pretty good football team. Sunday’s huge NFC East contest with its critical playoff consequences is likely to look like the third quarter of a preseason game where the team on defense is playing the rookies and third stringers, while the other coach has left his starters in.

SB Nation huh? Color me surprised. Where do I even begin? First of all, how soon have we forgotten the Philadelphia Eagles basically forfeited their Week 17 matchup against Washington last year when they pulled Jalen Hurts out of the game for Nate Sudfeld. This allowed Washington to make the postseason. The Eagles took a bullet for that franchise essentially. Everyone in the media was slandering the Eagles for their decision to arguably throw the game away.
I don’t want to hear any excuses. Everyone knows in order to be successful in this league, you must have depth. Front offices spend all offseason preparing for situations like this. How do you think the Eagles won the Super Bowl back in 2018? They had a backup quarterback win Super Bowl MVP.
On top of that, they made a playoff run in the 2019-20 season with practice squad receivers and an often injured offensive line. At the end of the day, only the strong survive. When you have Washington media saying this is a forfeit game, you just don’t deserve to have any sort of winning culture in that town.
