Is there a chance that Minshew Mania is here to stay?

Well, well, well… Just when you thought it was safe to dust off your Jalen Hurts jersey, Nick Sirianni announced Hurts and Gardner Minshew will be splitting reps with the first team in practice this week. This might sound familiar because it was the same strategy used in the lead up to the game against the Jets before the bye week, when Hurts was dealing with an injured ankle.
So what do we make of this news? A level headed take would be that Sirianni is still concerned about Hurts’ ankle and wants to make sure Minshew is prepared if called upon. That would make sense, especially with Hurts and how much he relies on the run. Now that we got that squared away, here’s a more fun take to get you through Wednesday.
Gardner Minshew was born to be the Eagles starting Quarterback and will lead this team to glory.
The rumblings have been out for the past two weeks that Hurts’ leash has gotten significantly shorter given his poor performance against the Giants. Add in Minshew absolutely lighting the weak sauce Jets defense on fire, and you got a recipe for a quarterback controversy.
I mean we had no less than Mike Quick himself saying if Hurts struggles this week he’ll need to get pulled for Minshew. (Merrill Reese Voice) Michael Quick!
This team is unexpectedly gunning for a playoff seed and we now know that the Washington Football Team essentially fielding a practice squad on Sunday. If Hurts struggles, either because of his ankle or because he for some reason can’t seem to put together a good game against division opponents, it’s very easy to see Minshew trotting out from the sideline to save the day.
This would function as basically the greatest retirement present the Eagles could give Angelo Cataldi.

If he does come in and win the game, any pronouncements about there being “No Quarterback Controversy” will sound hollow. So I guess what I’m saying here is strap yourselves in and prepare for takeoff. Minshew Mania might still be coming in hot.
