Beercan Bets Week 2: Born again
It’s Thursday, so that can only mean one thing: It’s time again for Beercan Bets.
Last week’s attempt to start our journey to turn a $25 initial bet into a $25,000 payday was a disaster. You can find out more about my disastrous first pick in last week’s reaction post. Once again, for your health you aren’t required to bet the same game as me.
Just a quick refresher on the strategy here:
- Download the Parx Sportsbook app and enter the code LIBERTYLINE with your initial $25 deposit.
(Note: If you already made your initial deposit and wasted your risk-free bet on my terrible pick, you have my deepest sympathies.)
- Select one moneyline bet to wager the full $25 on.
- Win. (This part is where we fell off last week.)
- Apply the total amount won to another single moneyline bet next week.
- Repeat steps 2 thru 4 until we have accumulated $25,000 in winnings.
Sounds simple enough!
I’m down to two NBA games I’m looking at tonight. Let’s take a look and make a final decision.
Warriors (-110) at Bucks (-110)
I can’t explain why but I feel a magnetic pull towards this game. The Warriors are underdogs, and I feel like they owe me one for losing last week after I bet on them to beat the Pelicans. This is NOT HOW BETTING WORKS.
The reality is they will be without Draymond Green (calf injury) going against Giannis and the Bucks. They might win this game if Steph Curry goes off, but it feels like a toss-up.
Over the last ten games the Bucks are 6-4 and just dropped a game to the Hornets. No shame there. Meanwhile the Warriors are also 6-4 and just lost against the red hot Grizzlies.
If I pick this one I’m going with the Bucks just based on home court advantage. But that’s a big if…
The other game I’m looking at?
Timberwolves (+133) at Grizzlies (-165)
The Grizzlies are currently rolling on a ten game winning streak. Without a doubt they are the hottest team in the western conference. Ja Morant is producing viral moments like it’s his job.
The only thing that complicates this pick? The Timberwolves have been a surprisingly tough team. You wouldn’t know it by their record, but they’ve stolen some games against superior opponents. Add in the fact that Steven Adams is likely going to miss tonight’s game for the Grizzlies. KAT may just have a big game in the paint.
Beercan Bet of the Week:
This week I’m rolling with the hot hand and putting $25 on the Grizzlies to keep their streak alive. The absence of Steven Adams and the fear that the Grizzlies are due to have an off night aren’t enough to keep me away from this one.
