Josh Sweat named an alternate for 2022 Pro Bowl, replaces Nick Bosa

Another Eagle will be heading to the 2022 Pro Bowl. Earlier today, it was announced that Josh Sweat would be replacing 49ers’ Nick Bosa in this Sunday’s event. Bosa had been dealing with injuries during San Francisco’s playoff run, which led to his decision to opt-out.
Sweat is the 5th Eagle to be named to the Pro Bowl, joining Jake Eliott, Javon Hargrave, Darius Slay, and Jason Kelce. Elliott and Hargrave were alternates, while Kelce and Slay were the team’s only initial nominations.
Sweat had a breakout season in 2021, recording 7.5 sacks, 13 QB hits, and seven tackles for loss. According to PFF, the Eagles’ edge rusher finished with a 76 passing rushing grade, ranking 7th amongst all NFC defensive ends.
Howie Roseman made bringing back Sweat a priority this season, signing him to a three-year extension worth $40 million in September. So far, the contract looks great for the Eagles, and they’ll look to him to command their defensive line as Fletcher Cox and Brandon Graham get older.
If you wish to watch the 2022 Pro Bowl, it will be taking place this Sunday, February 6th, in Las Vegas at 3 P.M.
