Nuggets broadcaster Scott Hastings is the last true journalist, gets player’s injury report live on air

Nuggets color commentator Scott Hastings pulled off one of the most extraordinary pieces of live-action journalism the world of sports has ever seen. Altitude Sports in-studio host Katy Winge asked him if JaMychal Green was playing during a pregame segment, as the team had not yet released an official injury report. What happened next was a legendary moment in TV history.
Instead of sending it back to the studio to buy time to find out, he turned around, got Green’s attention, and asked him.
In the name of quality journalism, Hastings got his answer:

Here’s how the exchange went for those of you who can’t listen:
Hastings: “Hey, JaMychal!”
Green: “Yeah?”
Hastings: “You playing tonight?”
Green: “Nah.”
Hastings: “Nah, he’s not playin’.”
If you’re a fan of quality investigative broadcast journalism, look no further. The city of Denver is lucky to have this guy calling Nuggets games. I mean, just look at every aspect of that 33-second clip.
The smooth turn, the exclamation of “Nah, he’s not playin’,” and the immaculate soul patch add up to a clip worthy of the broadcasting hall of fame. I don’t know who’s in charge of nominating people for an Emmy, but this deserves consideration.
If you’re an NBA League Pass or illegal streamer who likes to watch Nuggets games, you’re probably aware of Hastings. I’d definitely heard and enjoyed some of his calls. What I was unaware of were the soul patch and his journalistic chops.
Talk about the total package. The man is a basketball adonis.

Regardless as to how I may feel about Nuggets fans, they better hold on tight to this man and never let him go. Throw the bag at him, because if you don’t somebody else definitely will.
