USFL player cut for wanting pizza, coach should be embarrassed

The Pittsburgh Maulers of the USFL cut former Michigan RB De’Veon Smith for, wait a minute… wanting a slice of pizza? Instead of chicken salad? What am I missing here?
Well, it turns out we’re not missing anything. Not only did Maulers coach Kirby Wilson cut Smith for that, but he also did it proudly on camera, even doubling down on the decision in an interview.
Here’s the clip from the USFL’s “Hard Knocks” ripoff:

What a loser.
Apparently, Smith was cut for a seemingly “disrespectful” interaction with some staff member about his food preferences. I’d understand a Pop Warner coach putting a kid in his place for not accepting the postgame snack from a team mom, but these are grown men for crying out loud.
The kicker? The coach cut Smith before even speaking to him about it. No investigation, totally off of hearsay. The USFL has been around one week and I already hate it.
I know Wilson won rings with the Steelers and Buccaneers as an assistant, but this isn’t the NFL, chief. You can tell he’s never been a head coach in the pros in his life. Now, he’s finally able to power trip just like he watched head coaches do for his 22-year career in the NFL.
I’ve seen plenty of people say, “those who never played football just don’t get that discipline is the most important part of winning.” Hey, that may be true, but I don’t need a former member of the Freshman football team telling me anything about winning at the highest level. I’ve had it happen before, and I won’t sit through that shit again.
Nothing anyone says will change the fact that this guy thinks he’s Belichick because he coached the least valuable position in the NFL for 22 years. He should be embarrassed, as should the USFL.
Since Wilson wants to act like a big shot in a 1-week old league, I think we should treat him like one. In fact, I’ve taken the liberty of mocking up his first sponsorship deal. This will be just as big as Belichick’s Subway ads were!
