Paxten Aaronson books the US a trip to the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Indonesia with 2 goals against Costa Rica

Paxten Aaronson helped the United States book one of the region’s four sports at the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Indonesia.
Last night, the United States beat Costa Rica 2-0 in the quarterfinal matchup at the Concacaf U-20 Championship. Philadelphia Union homegrown attacker Paxten Aaronson scored twice to give the United States the win.

Aaronson scored in the 5th and 49th minutes of last night’s match, helping the US qualify for their fifth straight U-20 World Cup. He is one of 17 MLS players on the 20-man roster for the United States and now has four goals and one assist during the tournament.
The team will now face Honduras, the tournament’s host on July 1st in the semifinals with a trip to 2024 Olympics in Paris on the line.

Aaronson, 18, is the younger brother of US men’s national team attacker Brenden Aaronson, who completed a transfer from Austria’s Red Bull Salzburg to English Premier League side Leeds United in late May. A highly-rated prospect in his own right, Paxten has three goals in 23 regular-season appearances (776 minutes) for Philadelphia.
