After watching AJ Brown against the helpless Steelers defenders, the image of Allen Iverson stepping over Ty Lue kept appearing in my mind. If he’s not already there, AJ Brown is putting himself in consideration for one of the NFL’s Top Five wide receivers.
Houston selected Derek Stingley Jr with the third overall pick in the 2021 draft, who has lived up to the hype surrounding him starting in high school. The rookie leads the Texans with 44 targets thrown his way, allowing 30 receptions (68.2 catch rate) and 396 yards (13.2 yards/reception).
However, the LSU product is 2nd on the team in pass breakups (4), with an interception, no touchdowns against him, and an 86.9 NFL passer rating when targeted.
Clearly, the Texans are rebuilding, so I wouldn’t put it past this dysfunctional franchise to send Stingley Jr into the Swole Batcave to corral AJ Brown in a shadow situation. That should last a half or so as the Eagles’ star weapon will immediately torch the 6-foot, 190-pound rookie.
On the other side, a familiar face occupies the opposite outside cornerback spot. One-time Eagle, Steven Nelson leads the team in coverage snaps and has held his own with teams constantly throwing at Stingley Jr.
The eight-year veteran has allowed 16 catches on 28 targets for 157 yards, one pass breakup, an interception, and a touchdown allowed. It could be the former Eagles who will mainly match up with the newest Eagle while Stingley Jr battles a familiar SEC for in DeVonta Smith.
Either way, the Texans play it; these should be the matchups to exploit, as Houston has allowed only 325 total yards and two touchdowns to tight ends all season.

The Houston Texans rank dead last in rush defense, giving up 186 yards per game on the ground and over 200 yards per game over their last three games. The Eagles demonstrate a masterclass RPO system every week and expect once this game gets out of hand, the backs will eat, and someone will go for 100+ yards on the ground.
Boobie Miles Runs Wild
- OVER 100+ yards (+170)
- Anytime TD Scorer (-120)
- 85+ rush yards & Anytime TD Parlay (+225)
Darius Slay, James Bradberry, and Avonte Maddox arguably are the best cornerback trio in the league and potentially in the Eagles’ history. Teams are afraid to throw the ball toward Darius Slay, so they go toward James Bradberry, who has re-established himself as a premier cornerback in the NFL.
With Davis Mills throwing to them, the receivers will not gain an inch of separation on Thursday Night. That and Mills will be under constant pressure, but the Eagles’ dominant defensive line. Nico Collins is officially listed as out with a groin injury as well as number one receiver, Brandin Cooks. No matter what the receivers’ prop bets are, take the unders on all of them.
Chris Moore Lockbox
- UNDER 29.5 yards (-110)
Phillip Dorsett Lockbox
- UNDER 35.5 yards (-110)
SACKADELPHIA
