Eagles sign former third-round tackle with huge upside to practice squad

The Eagles have signed offensive tackle Kiran Amegadjie to the practice squad, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.

Amegadjie was a third-round pick by the Bears in 2024 out of Yale. He’s a big body, 6-5, 326 pounds, with real physical tools. But the tools haven’t translated to production. He started one game as a rookie, on Monday Night Football against the Vikings, and never got another start. He missed all of 2025 fighting through injury while trying to hold onto a roster spot.

Chicago tried to trade him before final cuts. Nothing came together. He got waived, cleared waivers, and landed unclaimed. That’s how a former third-round tackle ends up available in September.

What this means for the Eagles

This is a developmental add, not a roster crunch move. Amegadjie will work behind Lane Johnson and Jordan Mailata, two of the best tackles in football, which is about as good an environment as a project lineman can ask for. He joins third-round rookie Markel Bell in the pipeline of young tackles the Eagles are stashing for the future.

It’s worth noting the Eagles lost tackle depth elsewhere this offseason, Cameron Williams was claimed by Atlanta and Myles Hinton by Cincinnati. Amegadjie is part of restocking that shelf.

There’s no guarantee this goes anywhere. Amegadjie has one bad start and a lost season on his resume. But the physical profile is still rare, and Philadelphia has a track record of developing offensive linemen. Worth watching, nothing more right now.
